Sun poisoning doesn’t necessarily mean that you have been poisoned by the sun. What it means is that you have a severe sun burn and it is inflaming your skin. Wearing the proper sun protection can help reduce your risk of severe sun burn, so be sure to always wear sunscreen even in the winter time!

Symptoms of sun poisoning are;

  • Blistering skin
  • Swelling
  • Headache
  • Dehydration
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Fever/chills
  • Pain/tightness of skin

If you have been burned and are suffering from any of these signs then you should;

  • Get out of the sun immediately
  • Drink extra fluids
  • Take a cool shower (not cold)
  • Use aloe
  • Take an ibuprofen for the swelling/pain

If the symptoms get worse and you start to feel severe pain or begin vomiting or lose consciousness, please seek medical attention ASAP.
